Quinta do Poial is the renovation of a historic farm. In the 1980s, Quinta do Poial was one of the first farms in the region to cultivate herbs, fruits, and vegetables using organic farming methods. More than 30 years later, the owner wished to reinvent the property for new uses while preserving its edible, medicinal, and productive character.

The design process required careful consideration of the existing landscape, including mature trees and plantings, tractor access for maintenance, fruit harvesting, irrigation systems, public access, privacy and the creation of spaces for events and gatherings.

The one-hectare rectangular site included five existing greenhouses, which have been preserved and repurposed, maintaining a connection to the history and identity of the farm. Today, the project accommodates a variety of activities, including food production, outdoor cooking experiences, events, and children’s play areas.

Designed as a flexible and multifunctional landscape, Quinta do Poial can host a wide range of outdoor activities related to nature, wellness, education, and healthy farm-to-table living.
